The new EU road fatalities by road user type table of the NTUA Road Safety Observatory, based on European Commission CARE data for 2024, provides an overall view of the distribution of fatalities between the different road users. It can be clearly observed that passenger cars account for nearly half (44%) of all road fatalities and represent the largest share of fatalities in most EU countries. Furthermore, PTW riders account for 21% of all road fatalities in the EU and for almost one third of road fatalities in Greece.
