In this research both the potential and the limitations regarding the analysis of road accident data in Greece are investigated. The aim of the research is, on one hand, to draw an overall picture of all involved parties in road accident data collection, codification, storing, processing and publication, and on the other hand, to evaluate the availability and quality of all necessary data on risk exposure, for conducting reliable road accident analysis. The results of this research could be proved particularly helpful in the investigation of the real causes of road accidents and the assessment of the necessary intervention on the road network, in order to reduce road accidents.
