International experience, with most significant example the positive results of the deregulation of the regional and local bus transport systems in the United Kingdom from 1986, makes the introduction of free market conditions in the bus transport sector in Greece, the only one alternative solution for the emerging problems of the sector.  Gradual operation and exploitation of the regional and local bus transport systems by private, municipal or governmental companies, in a free competition environment, will result in the improvement of the level of service and the significant reduction of state subsidies.  The role of the State will be limited to the definition of competition rules and the design of a global transport policy.
