The main objectives of the ElderSafe project concern the assessment of the main trends and analysis of risks for older road users groups (driver, passenger, pedestrian), the overview and analysis of measures, including ITS, aimed at increasing road safety for older road users groups (driver, passenger, pedestrian) and recommendations for measures to be taken at EU level in the light of developing an elderly transport safety strategy. The project will provide an epidemiological update and overview of transport related risk figures, differential risks and risk factors related to older road user groups.  In addition, an overview of the current state-of-the-art of road safety measures that can contribute to a better road safety for older road user groups and analysis of these measures will be provided.  In particular, an overview of the current state-of-the-art of ITS and technological countermeasures in EU member states  will be provided and these measures will be analysed. The project results will include scientific publications targeted at the scientific research community and factsheets targeted at non-experts and easily accessed from the project’s website.
