The level of Road Safety in Greece is very low in comparison with the equivalent  level of other European Union member states.  Road Safety approach in Greece  is considered as fragmentary, non-coordinated and ineffective and there is need for an integrated and long term National Road Safety Policy.  Chamber of Engineers of   Greece proposes a number of measures for a real raising of Road Safety (RS) level in Greece;  these measures are summarised in a decalogue: 1. National RS Policy, 2. National RS Council, 3. RS Information System, 4. Intervention campaigns in the road network, 5. Special RS Unit in the Ministry of Public  Works, 6. High technical standards for vehicles safety, 7. Improvement of the accident immediate intervention system, 8. Education Programme, 9. Campaigns for information of the citizens, 10. Drivers’  controls.
